October 12th, 2019 | 10PM onwards
RM50 before midnight / RM60 after (incl. 1 drink)

Making headlines and chart topping hits since she first emerged in 2008, Little Boots won the respected BBC Sound Of poll and a Brits Critics Choice nomination just a year later. Fusing massive pop hooks onto otherworldly electronic soundscapes it showed a pop star willing to experiment, and her debut album 'Hands'; reached the top 5 in the UK album chart and was quickly certified Gold. Her electrifying live show gained a reputation, pushing boundaries with ground breaking instruments and synthesizers such as the Tenori-on and Laser Harp, culminating in memorable live performances at Glastonbury and Coachella to name a few.

As a DJ her ties with the dance culture are deep and long-running. From her first legendary white label release 'Stuck On Repeat’, produced by Joe Goddard, to gracingMixmag's cover, it's hard to think of another popstar to have garnered anywhere near as much credibility from the dance world's inner-circle. Her live DJ set for Mixmag Lab has clocked up almost 2 million views, and she has spun everywhere from Glastonbury to Ibiza’s Pacha to Valentino’s latest launch at Milan Fashion Week.

Little Boots dives further into the club on her latest release ‘Jump’, chronicling her relocation to her new home of Los Angeles and constant DJ tours that have taken her all across the globe. A prolific talent who’s masterfully thrived in both pop and electronic spaces alike, words alone don’t do justice for a talent praised by the Los Angeles Times as “one of the U.K.'s most interesting pop stars".

Along with two of KL's hottest female DJs in terms of music and looks - LZZY and RIMKA, join us for a night of good vibes only and Butterfly shaking.

Matrixxman
Techno Futurist

A new force in techno has emerged.

Amid a serious dearth of US techno producers in recent years, Charles Duff, also known as Matrixxman, has been busy soundtracking the technological singularity that unfolds before us. His sound tends to be cold and mechanised yet somehow retains an element of warmth, perhaps even soul, if you will. A lone spark of instantiated humanity that refuses to be extinguished by the din of automata marching toward us.

Should you be the type of person who seeks validation from others, his music has been played by the likes of DVS1, Rødhåd, Jeff Mills, Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin, and Levon Vincent, to name a few. He has also had the distinct pleasure of being remixed by Larry Heard, Silent Servant, and The Hieroglyphic Being, for whatever that's worth.

After a steady output of EPs on labels like Dekmantel, Planet Rhythm, and Delft, he released his first full-length album on Ghostly International in July of 2015.

Coming to you hot & steady, so we'll need you to wake up before September ends. Gather your techno troops and join forces on the dance-floor as we embrace the music of Charles - Matrixxman underneath the dancing butterflies.

August 30th, 2019 | 10PM onwards
Free entry

The celebration of Malaysia's 62nd Independence Day required something out of the ordinary, so we've decided to gather a few legends who have been contributing greatly to the development of KL underground scene.

It is with great excitement that we present this rare lineup featuring Callen, one of the Ohrwurm co-founders, a collective responsible for bringing many international acts to KL and generally promoting the club music in the region; Godwin P, master of rhythms and Notion A, a techno maestro and head honcho of SoulMatters Recordings.

Yesterrave aims to inject old-school flavour into the weekend and place emphasis on the classic and raw side of house and techno music with breakbeat-infused, electro, acid and piano sounds that used to define the parties many years ago.

A night dedicated to remembering some great music from the past and exploring the new tunes with that lovable old-school sound. A bit of nostalgia value and a plan to recreate the atmosphere of the warehouse and rave parties of the yesteryear.

Doorly's music strides gracefully between the underground with rare limited edition release on vinyl only to tracks that make it into literally every DJ on earths playlist and sometimes even topping the Beatport overall chart, as was the case with his Shadow Child collaboration ‘Piano Weapon’. In that same year, Doorly & Cajmeres ‘The Way’ sat at No.1 overall on Traxsource and in the top 10 of the Beatport house chart for over a month, with his releases being hammered by the likes Maceo Plex, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Skream, Jackmaster, Agoria & Annie Mac to name a few.

Doorly regularly releases on Cajual, Dirtybird, Moon Harbour, and Hot Creations; an impressive list of labels that demonstrate the towering standards he sets himself, as well as the high regard his production are held in by many of the industry’s tastemakers.

And supporting this massive deck master will be double the trouble, the two Victors shaping up KL's underground music scene with much energy & vibes - you know it's going to be one hell of a night so we suggest you put on your most comfortable shoes because dancing you'll be until we turn the lights on in Butterfly Room. Bargrooves is the compilation series for the truly discerning house music lover. Under the watchful eye of Defected Records style and sophistication that runs through each release, from the carefully curated tracklist and expertly-programmed DJ mixes, through to the distinctive cover artwork. Now with over 20 compilations published it looks to set its sights on being the go-to brand for quality house.

Jon White is one of the rising stars of the dance music scene. A career which has seen him travel the world numerous times over shows no signs of slowing - completely the opposite in fact. A professional career that began in 1998 has seen Jon light up dance floors on every continent alongside the world’s biggest Artists and DJs. His portfolio reads like a who’s who of dance music, while he’s represented the industry’s leading brands Ministry Of Sound, Pacha, Cream, Defected, Amnesia Ibiza, Space Ibiza, Hed Kandi and Hotel Costes, to name a few. Jon’s reputation continued to flourish. He accepted residency at Asian clubbing institution Zouk, Kuala Lumpur, seeing him rub shoulders with the likes of Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren and Deep Dish on a weekly basis.

Today Sean Doyle has moved into being an artist defined in his own right. Sean is now one of the only artists in the world to headline for three of the biggest brands in house music Hed Kandi, Soul Heaven and Stereo Sushi. No artist in the world can boast such a repertoire of headline appearances playing under the banner of such well-known brands. In 2019 that looks to step into new realms with Sean representing Defected’s House Label “Bargrooves”. Which the market being fully saturated with dj’s from all walks of music, what seems to be the preferred option is dj’s who can not just play the current flavour of music but can carefully select from old and new to focus on bringing a unique experience to the dancefloor.

All together as we mesh the music, the vibes, the lights - we have a special night in store for all of you. Come early to help set the mood on the dance-floor, and keep your eyes peeled as we'll be giving away free merch and changing up Butterfly Room to help make the night stand out more than usual for your visual enjoyment. House music till the lights go on.

As a DJ, producer and agent, music has been at the forefront of A.F.O.M.’s life, career and purpose. From an early age his musical career was hijacked by an agent’s career when founding his own touring agency TigerStyle in 2004, soon becoming one of the premiere touring agencies in the Australasian region.

His debut track “She who annihilates” featured on Henry Saiz’s Balance presents Natura Sonoris compilation, with many calling it a stand out track for the first disc - released on Natura Sonoris in March 2018 with a Petar Dundov remix, it saw support from Sasha, Henry Saiz, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy Mantzur, Eagles & Butterflies & more.

His second release - a remix of Depaart’s “Blowing Smoke” released in October 2018 on Sasha’s famous Last Night on Earth saw amazing feedback and support from the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Guy J, Joris Voorn, Tiefschwarz, Fideles and many more. His remix was the stand out track of the EP reaching highly on the Beatport Melodic House & Techno chart.

His sets are full of exclusive tracks, unreleased edits and upfront promos along with his own works. The dedication to his art is evident in every set; each paced, structured and with a purpose. Always searching for new and unique sounds, his rich tapestry of grinding beats, spacey techno and mechanical bliss is subtly transformed into one sculptured mish-mash of deep grooves and contagious energy. An evocative description…

Radio Slave (Official)

Matt Edwards is a bonafide powerhouse of underground dance music. Over the course of more than fifteen years, the Berlin based artist has established himself as a leading A&R, influential producer and esteemed DJ, all with his own unique and immediately recognisable style.

That famously loopy and hypnotic brand of house and techno is built on a solid bed of kicks and often interlaced with hypnotic vocals. It has taken him to high profile DJ sets everywhere from Fabric to Womb to Cocoon, as well as being a regular at Berghain and Panorama Bar where he has hosted his own Rekids label parties since 2007.

Ten years later came a first ever Radio Slave album, Feel The Same. It was a stylistically broad affair that made the most of the album format to show off all the different facets of Edwards’ musical personality.

In 2017, Edwards’ Rekids label hit its 100th release with a special EP from Matt that featured two typically monstrous and club-slaying tracks in ‘Another Club’/‘Feel The Same.’ These follow on from modern classics like ‘Grindhouse,’ ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’ and ‘Bell Clap Dance’, which were ubiquitous club hits that solidified Radio Slave’s long form and absorbing production style. But of course, the label has not only been the outlet for Edwards’ own work: it is also a place that he has proven his rare knack for A&R time and time again thanks to signing now internationally celebrated talents like Nina Kraviz and Mr G.

Alongside all this, Edwards—who is still a hapless musical fanboy at heart—has established plenty of other projects, most notably Quiet Village with Joel Martin. Focussed on downtempo sounds infused with elements of ambient, dub and synth music, it recently spawned a much- loved remix of Agnes Obell and promises a new album in 2018. It is sure to reflect yet another side of Edwards’ expansive sound world that also takes in major label remix work for the likes of Kylie, Paul McCartney and Elton John, as well as underground favourites like Dinky, Scuba and Aphrohead.

It's time to get into the mood, as we are slaves to the rave, and rave we shall. Get in tune with the mighty fine Radio Slave as he takes the decks with as much power as possible - set to make you move all night long until we turn on those bright lights in Butterfly Room.

March 10th, 2019

The Illustrious Blacks (Manchildblack x Monstah Black) are NeoAfroFuturisticPsychedelicSurrealisticHippys on a mission to save the world one beat at a time!

#LiveTheHypeLife

Once upon a time in a galaxy not far away, there lived two kings. Each was the ruler of his own deliciously glorious planet. The first king, Manchildblack, was well known throughout the cosmos for his ethereal vocals, celestial sonics and earthy musical messages. The other king, Monstah Black, was a star in the solar system for his gravity defying performances, gender bending fashions and spacey disposition. One magical night, an inexplicable ultramagnetic pull forced the two planets to collide. A technicolored explosion occurred, turning night into day, with a feast of aural and visual delights. It was then that the universe was changed forever. Manchildblack and Monstah Black united and became The Illustrious Blacks.

With inspiration from artists like Prince, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Boy George and George Clinton, The Illustrious Blacks have arrived with a mission to fuse futuristic funk, hypnotic house and cosmic pop into pulsating positivity for the planet. The real life married couple are not only co-pilots on their artistic voyage, but are united in their fantastical journey through life.

Brownie points for those who dare to dress up in fab gear, more brownie points to those who vogue on the dance-floor. This Sunday will be a special one as we expect grooves and moves with The Illustrious Blacks shaking up our sound system in Butterfly Room.

The Morphology

The Morphology with DJ Seinfeld

Supported by Mutual Collective / Soothsayer / Antype
The Iron Fairies KL, TREC
December 7, 2018 (Friday)

Lo-fi house, techno & dance; are all things that mash really well together. Along with the big-boy bass vibrations amongst the dancing butterflies, we'll delve deep into the sonic abyss with the sounds with DJ Seinfeld supported by anType, Soothsayer & Mutual Collective.

Armand Jakobsson is the artist known as DJ Seinfeld, Rimbaudian and Birds of Sweden. Under these aliases you’ll find sweeping emotive cuts, verdant dancefloor workouts and discerning dips into jungle and breaks. Releases have come on respected labels including Meda Fury, Ectotherm, UN.T.O and Lobster Fury: the collaborative label from Lobster Theremin and Meda Fury begun for the explicit purpose of releasing his tracks.

DJ Seinfeld’s beats are ultimately guided by an idea of authenticity, true to the spirit of the early house pioneers and the unabashed rawness the confines of their equipment demanded. A lot’s been made of this lo-fi fuzz, with many clamoring to declare it a scene, but he won’t be put into a box. His path is his own. A microphone picks up the tension and release of a singer: charged with emotion, the machine can’t handle it. The rough edges of his productions emit the same sensibility.

Footage of his gigs or their post-show reaction exemplifies the reception he gets as a DJ. Biographies often claim a DJ regularly ‘sends crowds into rapture’ or ‘lays waste to the floor,’ but in DJ Seinfeld’s case pandemonium is the default. Mixes show his deft control of build-up and feel in the booth, while his mini series for legendary London station Rinse FM in May ‘DJ Seinfeld presents…’, was a master class in the kind of wonky left-field house he peppers his sets with.

The point of no return though came one evening spent with Ableton and a few beers. The track ‘U’ was uploaded to Soundcloud, and the internet went into overdrive. Sampling Bob Geldoff’s account of his split with his wife, amid soaring chants and keys wrought in heartache, ‘U’ is almost voyeuristic in its honesty. It’s that truth, that realness, that defines what Armand’s music is about.
